James Frier is currently a Residence Director at Northeastern University where he oversees a complex of 540 first-year students living in three learning communities, Bouve College of Health Sciences, Engineering, and Connections. He serves on the Academic Initiatives and Staff Selection Committees, as well as the First-Year Experience sub-committee. James is currently pursuing his second Master’s Degree, an MBA, at Northeastern. James is also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated.
Previously, James Frier was a Residence Life Coordinator at Texas Tech University, where he served on the University Student Housing Social Justice Education Committee as well as the SWACUHO Diversity and Social Justice Committee. His responsibilities included the overall management of an 800-bed co-ed complex, supervision of 22 student staff members, one graduate assistant, and one administrative assistant.
Prior to joining Texas Tech University and University Student Housing, James served in three graduate assistantship roles at New York University while completing a Masters Degree in Counseling. He served as a Graduate Resident Assistant, the Graduate Assistant for Judicial Affairs, and as the Graduate Assistant for Residential Life and Housing Services at NYU.
Setting the stage for his work at NYU, James completed his Bachelors of Science in Adolescent Education and English at St. John’s University in Queens, New York, graduating Cum Laude. There, James served the community for three years as a Resident Assistant for first-year students and learning communities in traditional and suite-style housing.
